With a niche as specific as catskiing, it only made sense to reach out to the social networks as a promotional tool for the operation. Those that ski and snowboard in this capacity have so much passion about what they do its not surprising they would embrace a community that's about nothing but their sport. The goal has been to create a central location for enthusiasts to share their experiences and photos while showcasing all the wonderful things Fernie Wilderness Adventures has to offer.
The Facebook pages have been active for 15 months and in that time more than 2300 people have joined. Membership continues to grow with an average increase of 10% per week. FWA has already felt a positive impact to the business from these social media marketing efforts as at end of the 2009/2010 season 5% of all bookings could be tracked back to social media.
